N3 SUPPORTS THE BACKBONE OF THE NHS
N3 is essential to the modern NHS. As the largest Virtual Private Network in Europe it is a project of a scale and complexity that has never been attempted before. N3 is delivered by the N3 Service Provider (N3SP), which is managed by BT.
The N3 network links over 21,000 connections in England, 3,100 connections in Scotland and 10,000 non-NHS connections enabling key NHS applications.
Since 31 March 2007, the network has been voice enabled, offering two new services, N3 Local Gateway Service (LGS) and N3 Hosted Voice Service (HVS). Cost saving opportunities, technology innovations, efficiency enhancers and future communications roadmaps are available to NHS organisations now.
